Come on Vine, Lets all be adults here.
The Newsvine platform is perfectly aligned in such a way that all members and users are able to express their first amendment to their hearts content.
But, like I said, lets be adults here. Or to say it another way, lets try to be honest adults.
You see, one thing that I believe, most deeply, that is wrong with this country today is that many, if not most, people living and speaking in it cannot or will not accept a simple, basic, obvious human truth.
You cannot sit here and tell other people they are wrong if you are not willing to entertain the possibility that you, yourself, might be wrong.
Further, you cannot also sit there and post articles that require a serious stretch of logic to accept, and not expect people to call you crazy.
These two points work hand in hand, in tandem all day long, no matter what your political leanings or beliefs are. There are, indeed, some truths which are self evident.
If I post an article claiming that the earth is a rectangle and the entire universe revolves around it, well then.... I would expect the common decency of a barrage of comments telling me that I am b$tsh** crazy and should be locked up for good in a loony bin.
Further, if I post an article stating how all Liberals are dope smoking hippies who never went to college, Im pretty sure people would counter that point real quick. Same goes if I post an article claiming all Conservatives are bible thumping, gun-toting warmongers who only seek to sap the general public of every drop of their good will and imagination.
It really does not matter if I firmly believe any of those 3 positions or not. If I am willing to put them out there in the public space, then I must also be willing to hear counter-points and arguments that try to either prove me wrong, or get me to see the possible error in my judgement.
The real trick, and one of the things I really think is missing in modern America, is the simple willingness to entertain the notion that I may in fact be wrong.
It really is easy.
