So, I stumbled onto an article on Newsvine today and the article, and subsequent conversation lead me to create an online tool that I wanted to share with the Newsvine population at large.
The idea behind the tool is simple: Any argument for change contains within it, the Steps, Measures or Points needed to enact such change.
Saying "America needs to change" is so vague, it borders on pointless. What, within America, needs to Change?.
Further, any argument posited by an individual will always seem right to that individual. The real, broader question is, "What does the community at large think about a particular argument", or better, the different facets of an argument?
All arguments have facets, or points, of said argument. Think of a car crash where each driver blames the other for the accident.
So, being a programmer, I decided to sit down and create an application that allows a user to define a position & detail the different points\facets of their position. The application then presents that position to the Internet community at large. The community can then Vote Up, or Down, the different points of the posters position as well as add their own points as they relate to the position at large.
So, with that, I present to the newsvine community ( and the Internet Community at large ), with
Let me know what you think. I appreciate and desire constructive feedback. I plan on improving the tool over the next few days\weeks and will be looking forward to input\opinions\thoughts\feedback about how it should work.
Of course... I will be adding the ability to add comments to each Topic & Topic Point sometime very soon.
