I am 34 years old.

When I was a boy growing up, and I didnt eat my vegetables, my parents would tell me:

"Eat those vegetables, there are children in China who are starving right now"

Today, there are children in China who wont eat their rice or vegetables, and their parents tell them:

"Eat that Rice! There are people in America who would kill you for that rice."

and so it came to be.
